This is my second year at Troy Shorewood, and I love being a member of the Shorewood Family! This school quickly became home. A little about me... i grew up in Tinley Park and am the youngest of 4 children. I married my husband in 2012, and we live in Frankfort. We are both assistant principals! I love to travel, spend time with my niece and nephews, and relax with a good book by the pool!
I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and received my Masters in School Improvement Leadership from Olivet Nazarene. I taught first and third grade for seven years, before moving into administration.
i look forward to another fabulous year with the students and families of Troy Shorewood Elementary School!
Ms. Colleen Connolly Principal Hello! My name is Colleen Connolly and I am the proud Principal of Troy Shorewood Elementary! This is my 13th year working for Troy and my 2nd year as Principal of Troy Shorewood. I have loved getting to know the community, staff and students during my first year as principal. Everyone certainly made me feel welcomed! A little about my educational journey, after graduating from Illinois State University, I began my teaching career at Troy Middle School, then moved to William B. Orenic for its inaugural year. I was a Learning Behavioral Specialist for nine years at WBO before accepting a position as their Assistant Principal for two years.
A bit about me personally, I grew up in Orland Park where I was the youngest of three children and live now. I have two older brothers who are both married with kids. Between my two brothers, I have eight nieces and nephews who I have loved watching grow up and choose their own adventures in life. This summer my I had my own adventure where I spent 10 days in London and Paris. It was a wonderful learning experience and I was so grateful I was able go to Europe, as it has been on my bucket list for decades!
Being a member of the Troy community has grown and shaped me in so many ways. I’ve become a stronger teacher, leader, and person. I look forward to taking part in growing the future at Troy Shorewood Elementary!! This year our school's theme is "Troy Shorewood where our adventure begins." I cannot wait to be part of so many students big school adventure! J
